NCHF 98 Notes
The planning meeting In Napa at Skyline Park

Bryan and Thor went to the planning meeting to discuss the upcoming event.

The NCHF stands for the Northern California Homebrewers Festival. It is modelled after a similar event in southern California held each year in Temecula. The event brings homebrewers from club throughout the sponsored area together for fun, food, music, and a tasting of homebrews. Each club gets a table to pour their beers and place their club banners. The festival is restricted to homebrewers and their companions so as to keep the general public out. The cost of entry is $25.

The first annual event is planned for October 3, 1998 for Skyline park, Napa. As a participant, you can bring as much beer as you would like with any additional information like beer style information or recipes. The whole festival is kinda like a hamfest for brewers where you can meet your fellow homebrewer and gain insight on how they make their brew and how their club operates.

Food will be sold at a modest price of 2-4 bucks for a german sausage or similar Oktoberfest meal.Souvenir glasses, one included with your ticket, will also be available for purchase along with t-shirts.Tickets are sold in advance only. The club sponsors will be sending us a packet of tickets as soon as we can tell them how many tickets we think we will need.

As part of the activities, there will also be a number of bands and guest speakers to be announced later. One of the speakers earmarked for this years event in Byron Burch, an early pioneer of the homebrewing movement in California.

If your looking for lodging in the area, there are several options. First, the is camping available at the park on a first come, first serve basis. The costs is $2 bucks per night. If your an RV owner, you can park your RV on the grounds for $12 a day with hookup. Contact sully@drunkenbastards.org for more details.
