Celebrating 20 years of Homebrewing January, 1997 Volume 20, Issue 1

Members and Dues

Each year around this time and when we are scheduling club co-sponsored events, the question of what qualifies someone as a club member comes up. I would like to make a suggestion and have it discussed at the next meeting.

My idea is to continue to charge $7.00 yearly for the newsletter. And to qualify as a MEMBER and receive any club co-sponsoring, an additional $13.00 would be charged for a total of $ 20.00 for a single member. A couple would be charged $ 30.00, total.

MEMBERS would not have to pay the $1.00 per meeting attended. NONmembers would still be able to attend any co-sponsored event, paying full price and $1.00 per meeting.

If someone wanted to become a MEMBER mid-year, they would still be required to pay full membership price.

Club co-sponsoring would include such things as pub crawls, competition entries, and the club holiday party.

As a comparison, The Bay Area Brew Crew charges $30 / year for a single member and $45 / year for a couple. And they have had no problem growing their club.

Please give this some thought and be ready to discuss it at the January meeting.
