Alameda County Fair

Congratulations to The Draught Board members who entered in the Alameda County Fair. This year members in our club picked up several awards:

Tom Altenbach, Gold ribbon and Best of Show for his Dopple Bock in the Dark Lager Category, and Gold ribbon for his Barley Wine.

Bob Jones, Silver ribbon for his Barley Wine.

Al Branch, Bronze ribbon for his Porter.

Ken Koupal, Gold ribbon and "Most Humorous" for his Old Coutts Beer label, and Bronze ribbon for his Welding Rod Red in the Best Label category.

By request, the Most Humorous Label has been included in this newsletter. This label celebrates the marriage of some family friends, Sylvia and Kelsey Coutts. When they got married, it was obvious what the label should read.

Incidentally, the John Foy’s Welding Rod Red was a label I did on a case of homebrew for a welder who took beer in exchange for welding my kegs. This label recognizes excellence in stainless steel welding as well as appreciation for cost containment.
